The way to Ouranoupoli

If we want to reach Ouranoupoli from other parts of Greece we can use either the public transport or our car especially if we are a group of pilgrims and we will share the cost (fuel, tolls, e.t.c.).
If we use the public bus, depending on the region of Greece where start from, we have the following options:
1. From Piraeus - Athens:
  • . There is a direct ATHENS - OURANOUPOLI bus from Kifissos and has correspondence with the boat entering Mount Athos. The downside is that we must travel all night and be there early in the morning.

  • . An other option is to take the bus to Thesaloniki and then change to an other bus going to Ouranoupolis as described in detail below.

In Thessaloniki, the bus arrives in Macedonia station. (The morning Buses from Patra and Agrinio arrive at around 14:40).
A local bus that goes to Chalkidiki bus station, is leaving from the side corridor when our bus arrives.
So when we get to the station with must descend right away and enter the local bus No. 45 going to K.T.E.L Chalkidikis (final stop).
The route to K.T.E.L. Chalkidikis takes less than 1 hour.
We can buy the ticket inside the vehicle (automatic machine) with small charge (be sure to have € 1 in change).
